One day Oil Painting workshop with artist Lance Fennell – Suitable for all levels.
“Oil paint is the most gorgeous, sensuous, silky, versatile, beautiful paint there is, which explains why so many artists through the ages have made it their medium of choice. The history of painting shows there is no right way to paint and no one technique that is “better” than another. The trick is to work creatively with the paint to make every mark count, to delight and entertain (or even horrify) the eye, whether that’s with a brush, knife, rag or fingers. Because oil has certain inherent qualities in relation to transparency/opacity, drying times and thinning, my workshops are to guide the process to help get the best out of the medium. But it is just a medium, and painting is about ideas, whether abstract or representational, about emotion, about seeing and vision, about composition, line, space and colour, and of course about creativity. We work with all these things and have a lot of fun along the way.”Cost £35 (plus £5 for use of materials if required). Bring a packed lunch.
