Time to Write

Our “Time to Write” sessions have been running since 2015 and have been a valuable writing space for many.  Ute Manecke who runs the sessions works as a Learning and Teaching Librarian at the Open University.

Having done two novel writing courses at Milton Keynes Academy a few years ago, Ute went on to write her first novel, which won first prize in a novel writing competition run by the Writing Magazine. The prize was a self-publishing deal with Lulu.com. Ute’s novel has since been published there and is now available as a print and e-book.

Since then Ute has written short stories and is currently working on a novella.

She is passionate about writing and has attended ‘Time to Write’ sessions at the Westbury Arts Centre regularly for about three years. She values the opportunity these sessions give to participants to think and write in a quiet space, the community amongst the participants and the idea and story sharing at the end.

Time to Write runs every month on a Sunday afternoon – Simply bring along your work in progress whether it be poetry, a short story or a novel, and spend a peaceful afternoon writing in the tranquil setting of our listed building.
